Track and Field Injury Physical Therapy in Chardon, OH

Your event demands a lot. Your body is paying the price.

Your hamstring tightens up in the 100. Your shins ache from distance work. Your back hurts after vault or jump practice, or your shoulder is sore from throwing. You've rested, but every time training ramps up, the same injury comes back right before the meets that matter.

You deserve care that understands your event, and a plan that gets you back to competing.

We know how frustrating this is

Most of our clients come to us after other treatments didn't work. We know how discouraging it is to hurt, feel stuck, and not know who to trust. That's why the Doctors of Physical Therapy at Chardon Performance Therapy start by listening, until we understand your story and your goals.

We've helped thousands of active people regain confidence, strength, and control, even after other treatments didn't work.

Track and field injuries we treat

  • Hamstring strains in sprinters and hurdlers

  • Shin splints and stress reactions

  • Low back pain in pole vaulters and jumpers

  • Shoulder and elbow pain in throwers

  • Achilles, foot, and ankle pain

  • Hip and groin pain

  • Return to competition after injury

How it works

1. Share your story. We learn your events, your training, your meet schedule, and your injury history. We'll even review video of your event when it helps.

2. Get a comprehensive care plan. We look at the mechanics of your event, test strength and power with VALD force plates and dynamometry, and explain what's driving your pain in clear, simple language.

3. Work with an accountable guide. Your follow-up sessions are a full hour, one-on-one. We use hands-on manual therapy, dry needling, and a strength program built for your life and your sport. We stay invested in your progress and push you toward higher performance, not just symptom relief.

What to expect

In most cases, pain is gone within the first month, and often much sooner. But getting out of pain is only the start. Our custom plans of care average about 3 months, with one goal: keeping you out of pain and performing at your highest potential.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a doctor's referral for physical therapy in Ohio?
No. Ohio law lets you see a physical therapist directly, without a referral.

How long are the sessions?
Your initial assessment is 75 minutes. Follow-up sessions are 60 minutes, always one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy.

How long until my injury feels better?
In most cases, pain is gone within the first month, and often sooner. Plans of care average about 3 months, so you stay out of pain and come back stronger.

Do you take insurance?
We're out of network with all insurance companies. We accept HSA and FSA cards, and many clients are reimbursed through their out-of-network benefits. We'll walk you through your options on a quick call.

Do I have to stop training?
Not always. We'll adjust your training so you can keep working while you recover.

Can you work with my coach?
Yes. With your permission, we're happy to share a plan with your coach so your rehab and training work together.

When should I see a doctor instead?
If you have pain in one spot on a bone that gets worse with every run, back pain with arching that won't go away, felt a pop with large bruising, or can't put weight on your leg, see a physician right away.
