Shoulder Pain Physical Therapy in Chardon, OH
Your shoulder hurts, and you're tired of working around it.
Reaching overhead hurts. Sleeping on that side hurts. You've skipped presses in the gym, sat out a round of golf, or stopped picking up your kids the way you used to. You've rested it, iced it, maybe had an injection. It calms down, then the pain comes right back.
You deserve more than baseline care. You deserve a provider you can trust, and results that actually last.

We know how frustrating this is
Most of our clients come to us after other treatments didn't work. We know how discouraging it is to hurt, feel stuck, and not know who to trust. That's why the Doctors of Physical Therapy at Chardon Performance Therapy start by listening, until we understand your story and your goals.

How it works
1. Share your story. Your initial assessment is a 75-minute, one-on-one visit with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. We listen to your goals, your history, and what you've already tried, so we understand what truly matters to you.
2. Get a comprehensive care plan. We assess what's happening, why it's happening, and exactly what it will take to fix it, explained in clear, simple language. Shoulder pain often starts with the upper back and shoulder blade, so we look at how your whole upper body moves. We measure shoulder strength with dynamometry and compare side to side, so your progress is tracked in real numbers, not guesses.
3. Work with an accountable guide. Your follow-up sessions are a full hour, one-on-one. We use hands-on manual therapy, dry needling, and a strength program built for your life and your sport. We stay invested in your progress and push you toward higher performance, not just symptom relief.
What to expect
In most cases, pain is gone within the first month, and often much sooner. But getting out of pain is only the start. Our custom plans of care average about 3 months, with one goal: keeping you out of pain and performing at your highest potential.

Don't stay stuck
If you wait, a sore shoulder often becomes a weak, stiff shoulder, and you start compensating everywhere else. You lose strength, time, and the activities that make life meaningful. You don't have to accept that.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a doctor's referral for physical therapy in Ohio?
No. Ohio law lets you see a physical therapist directly, without a referral.
How long are the sessions?
Your initial assessment is 75 minutes. Follow-up sessions are 60 minutes, always one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy.
How long until my shoulder feels better?
In most cases, pain is gone within the first month, and often sooner. Plans of care average about 3 months, so you stay out of pain and come back stronger.
Do you take insurance?
We're out of network with all insurance companies. We accept HSA and FSA cards, and many clients are reimbursed through their out-of-network benefits. We'll walk you through your options on a quick call.
Can physical therapy help me avoid shoulder surgery?
Often, yes. Many rotator cuff problems, including some tears, respond well to a targeted strength program. When surgery is the right call, we'll tell you, and we'll help you prepare for it and recover from it.
Should I stop lifting or playing my sport?
Not always. Most people can keep training while the shoulder recovers. We'll show you what's safe now and build you back to full strength.
When should I see a doctor instead?
If your shoulder looks deformed or popped out, you can't lift your arm after a fall, there's major swelling or bruising, or you have shoulder or arm pain with chest pain or shortness of breath, see a physician or go to urgent care right away.
