Running Injury Physical Therapy in Chardon, OH

You want to run. Your body keeps saying no.

Your knee aches at mile three. Your shins or heel flare up every time you add miles. You've rested, foam rolled, and bought new shoes. You get back out, and the same injury shows up again, right when training was going well.

You deserve more than "just stop running." You deserve a provider who wants to keep you on the road.

We know how frustrating this is

Most of our clients come to us after other treatments didn't work. We know how discouraging it is to hurt, feel stuck, and not know who to trust. That's why the Doctors of Physical Therapy at Chardon Performance Therapy start by listening, until we understand your story and your goals.

We've helped thousands of active people regain confidence, strength, and control, even after other treatments didn't work.

Running injuries we treat

  • Runner's knee and pain around the kneecap

  • Shin splints and stress reactions

  • IT band pain

  • Achilles and calf pain

  • Plantar fasciitis and heel pain

  • Hip, glute, and hamstring pain

  • Low back pain from running

How it works

1. Share your story. Your initial assessment is a 75-minute, one-on-one visit with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. We learn your training, your goals, your race calendar, and your injury history.

2. Get a comprehensive care plan. We assess how you move and run, test your strength and power with VALD force plates and dynamometry, and look at your training load. Then we explain what's driving your injury in clear, simple language.

3. Work with an accountable guide. Your follow-up sessions are a full hour, one-on-one. We use hands-on care, dry needling, strength training for runners, and a smart return to running plan, so you run stronger, not just pain-free.

What to expect

In most cases, pain is gone within the first month, and often much sooner. But getting out of pain is only the start. Our custom plans of care average about 3 months, with one goal: keeping you out of pain and performing at your highest potential.

What our clients say

"I've been running for about 8 years and have always struggled with injuries like PF and sore Achilles heels. Seeing Courtney was a game changer as she not only helped improve my form, she taught very unique and helpful exercises to correct certain weaknesses too. I am now running with less pain."
Sharon V. ★★★★★

"From day one they let me know that they were not only going to help me recover, but that I would be stronger than before and have less risk of injury."
Doug F. ★★★★★

"If you're a runner looking to overcome obstacles, improve your performance, and achieve your goals, Courtney is the one you need on your side… Thank you, Courtney, for playing an instrumental role in my sub-4 hour marathon success!"

Don't stay stuck

If you wait, running injuries usually come back, often right before a race or in the middle of a great training block. Let's fix the cause, not just the pain.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a doctor's referral for physical therapy in Ohio?
No. Ohio law lets you see a physical therapist directly, without a referral.

How long are the sessions?
Your initial assessment is 75 minutes. Follow-up sessions are 60 minutes, always one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy.

Do you take insurance?
We're out of network with all insurance companies. We accept HSA and FSA cards, and many clients are reimbursed through their out-of-network benefits. We'll walk you through your options on a quick call.

Do I have to stop running?
Not always. Many runners can keep running with changes to their mileage or pace while they recover. We'll give you a clear plan for what's safe.

Do you offer running assessments?
Yes. We assess how you move and run, test your strength, and build a plan to help you run more efficiently and stay healthy, even if you're not injured.

Do I need new shoes?
Maybe, maybe not. Shoes matter, but strength, training load, and how you move usually matter more. We'll give you honest footwear advice.

When should I see a doctor instead?
If you have pain in one spot on a bone that hurts to touch and gets worse with every run, can't put weight on your leg, or have calf pain with swelling, see a physician soon. These can be signs of a stress fracture or blood clot.
