Pregnancy and Postpartum Physical Therapy in Chardon, OH

Your body did something amazing. Now let's get you back.

Your back and hips ache during pregnancy, or you're a few months postpartum and ready to run, lift, or play again. You're not sure what's safe, your core feels different, and carrying the baby car seat is hurting your back.

You deserve a clear, safe plan to get back to the activities you love.

We know how frustrating this is

Most of our clients come to us after other treatments didn't work. We know how discouraging it is to hurt, feel stuck, and not know who to trust. That's why the Doctors of Physical Therapy at Chardon Performance Therapy start by listening, until we understand your story and your goals.

We've helped thousands of active people regain confidence, strength, and control, even after other treatments didn't work.

What we help with

  • Back, hip, and pelvic pain during pregnancy

  • SI joint pain

  • Return to running, lifting, and sport after baby

  • External core and pelvic strengthening for return to sport

  • Neck, shoulder, and wrist pain from feeding and carrying

  • Rebuilding strength after a C-section (once cleared)

How it works

1. Share your story. Your initial assessment is a 75-minute, one-on-one visit with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. We listen to your goals, your history, and what you've already tried, so we understand what truly matters to you.

2. Get a comprehensive care plan. We check your strength, core control, and how you move, and build a plan around your stage of pregnancy or recovery.

3. Work with an accountable guide. Your follow-up sessions are a full hour, one-on-one. Your kids are welcome to come along.

Our three-phase approach

1. Pain management. We ease back, hip, and pelvic pain with hands-on care.

2. We move you. We guide you through safe movement for your stage of pregnancy or recovery.

3. You move you. You rebuild strength step by step, back to running, lifting, and sport.

What the research says

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists says physical activity in pregnancy is safe and recommended when there are no complications, and that exercise is linked to fewer pregnancy complications and faster recovery after birth (ACOG Committee Opinion 804).

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a doctor's referral for physical therapy in Ohio?
No. Ohio law lets you see a physical therapist directly, without a referral.

How long are the sessions?
Your initial assessment is 75 minutes. Follow-up sessions are 60 minutes, always one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy.

Do you take insurance?
We're out of network with all insurance companies. We accept HSA and FSA cards, and many clients are reimbursed through their out-of-network benefits. We'll walk you through your options on a quick call.

Are you pelvic floor therapists?
No. We provide external pelvic and core strengthening for return to sport. For leaking, pelvic pain, or internal pelvic floor care, we'll refer you to a pelvic floor specialist.

When can I start after giving birth?
After your OB or midwife clears you, usually around your postpartum checkup. We'll start gently and build from there.

Can I bring my baby or kids?
Yes. Kids are welcome at your sessions.

When should I see a doctor instead?
Call your OB or midwife for bleeding, fluid leaking, contractions, dizziness, chest pain, calf pain or swelling, or decreased baby movement.
