Pain Management Without Medication in Chardon, OH

You're tired of managing pain with pills and quick fixes.

You've tried muscle relaxers, pain pills, injections, and adjustments. They help for a day or a week, then the pain comes right back. You don't want to take something forever, and you don't want surgery. You just want to feel like yourself again.

You deserve more than baseline care. You deserve a provider you can trust, and results that actually last.

We know how frustrating this is

Most of our clients come to us after other treatments didn't work. We know how discouraging it is to hurt, feel stuck, and not know who to trust. That's why the Doctors of Physical Therapy at Chardon Performance Therapy start by listening, until we understand your story and your goals.

We've helped thousands of active people regain confidence, strength, and control, even after other treatments didn't work.

Pain we help with

  • Back and neck pain

  • Joint pain in the shoulder, hip, and knee

  • Headaches and migraines

  • Sciatica and nerve pain

  • Arthritis

  • Long-term pain that keeps coming back

How it works

1. Share your story. Your initial assessment is a 75-minute, one-on-one visit with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. We listen to your goals, your history, and what you've already tried, so we understand what truly matters to you.

2. Get a comprehensive care plan. We find what's driving your pain and explain it in clear, simple language, then build a plan that ends with you in control.

3. Work with an accountable guide. Your follow-up sessions are a full hour, one-on-one. We use hands-on manual therapy, dry needling, and a strength program built for your life and your sport. We stay invested in your progress and push you toward higher performance, not just symptom relief.

Our three-phase approach

1. Pain management. We calm your pain first with hands-on care, dry needling, and the right movement, so you can get moving.

2. We move you. We guide you through mobility and movement that restore how your body works.

3. You move you. You take over with a strength program you own, so the pain stays away and you don't depend on us.

What the research says

The CDC's 2022 pain guideline states that nonopioid treatments are at least as effective as opioids for many common types of acute pain, and are preferred for long-term pain. It recommends exercise and physical therapy for conditions like back pain (CDC, 2022).

Don't stay stuck

If you wait, you stay stuck in the cycle of pain, quick fixes, and pain again. You lose time, momentum, and the things that matter most.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a doctor's referral for physical therapy in Ohio?
No. Ohio law lets you see a physical therapist directly, without a referral.

How long are the sessions?
Your initial assessment is 75 minutes. Follow-up sessions are 60 minutes, always one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy.

How long until I feel better?
In most cases, pain is gone within the first month, and often sooner. Plans of care average about 3 months, so you stay out of pain and come back stronger.

Do you take insurance?
We're out of network with all insurance companies. We accept HSA and FSA cards, and many clients are reimbursed through their out-of-network benefits. We'll walk you through your options on a quick call.

Should I stop my medication?
Never stop a medication without talking to the provider who prescribed it. We'll work alongside your physician.

What is dry needling?
Dry needling uses thin needles to calm tight, painful muscles. Many clients feel relief quickly.

When should I see a doctor instead?
See a physician or go to the emergency room for pain with fever, unexplained weight loss, loss of bladder or bowel control, new weakness, or chest pain.
