Knee Pain Physical Therapy in Chardon, OH
Your knee hurts, and it's starting to run your life.
Stairs hurt. Squats hurt. Maybe you've iced it, braced it, rested it, or been told to just stop running. Maybe you've had surgery and still don't trust it. Every time it feels better, it flares up again, and you're left wondering if you'll ever get back to the game, the gym, or the trail.
You deserve more than baseline care. You deserve a provider you can trust, and results that actually last.

How it works
1. Share your story. Your initial assessment is a 75-minute, one-on-one visit with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. We listen to your goals, your history, and what you've already tried, so we understand what truly matters to you.
2. Get a comprehensive care plan. We assess what's happening, why it's happening, and exactly what it will take to fix it, explained in clear, simple language. Knee pain often starts at the hip or foot, so we look at how your whole body moves. We compare your legs side by side with VALD force plates and dynamometry, so we know in real numbers when your knee is ready to run, jump, and cut again.
3. Work with an accountable guide. Your follow-up sessions are a full hour, one-on-one. We use hands-on manual therapy, dry needling, and a strength program built for your life and your sport. We stay invested in your progress and push you toward higher performance, not just symptom relief.
What to expect
In most cases, pain is gone within the first month, and often much sooner. But getting out of pain is only the start. Our custom plans of care average about 3 months, with one goal: keeping you out of pain and performing at your highest potential.
What our clients say
"I had been to 6 different healthcare providers for leg/knee pain with minimal relief. Dave was the first that has been able to help relieve my pain, and he did that just after the first appointment."
Michelle U. ★★★★★
"I went to CPT with knee and leg pain… It was to the point where taking a short walk was excruciatingly painful… CPT put me back on track for an active life. 65 and playing basketball again is the best result we could imagine."
Steve H. ★★★★★
"Instead of treating my knee and back as two separate issues, Dave showed me how they were connected and treated my entire body… Chardon PT has given me the confidence to play competitively again."

Don't stay stuck
If you wait, a sore knee often becomes a weak knee, and a weak knee changes how you move everywhere else. You lose time, fitness, and the activities that make life meaningful. You don't have to accept that.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a doctor's referral for physical therapy in Ohio?
No. Ohio law lets you see a physical therapist directly, without a referral.
How long are the sessions?
Your initial assessment is 75 minutes. Follow-up sessions are 60 minutes, always one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy.
How long until my knee feels better?
In most cases, pain is gone within the first month, and often sooner. Plans of care average about 3 months, so you stay out of pain and come back stronger.
Do you take insurance?
We accept HSA and FSA cards, and many clients are reimbursed through their out-of-network benefits. We'll walk you through your options on a quick call.
Can physical therapy help me avoid knee surgery?
Often, yes. Many knee problems, including many meniscus tears and knee arthritis, respond well to a targeted strength program. When surgery is the right call, we'll tell you, and we'll help you prepare for it and recover from it.
Do I need an MRI before I start?
Usually not. Our assessment tells us a lot about what's going on. If we find signs that imaging would change your care, we'll tell you and help you take the next step.
When should I see a doctor instead?
If your knee locks and won't straighten, you can't put weight on it, it swells quickly after an injury, or you have calf pain and swelling, redness, or a fever, see a physician or go to urgent care right away.
