Knee and Hip Replacement Rehab in Chardon, OH
Your new joint is just the start. Your recovery is what matters.
You're getting a knee or hip replaced, or you just did. You want to walk without a limp, climb stairs, get back on the golf course, and play with your grandkids. You've heard horror stories about painful rehab, and you want to make sure you get the most out of your new joint.
You deserve one-on-one care before and after surgery, and a plan built around your goals, not just the minimum.

We know how frustrating this is
Most of our clients come to us after other treatments didn't work. We know how discouraging it is to hurt, feel stuck, and not know who to trust. That's why the Doctors of Physical Therapy at Chardon Performance Therapy start by listening, until we understand your story and your goals.
We've helped thousands of active people regain confidence, strength, and control, even after other treatments didn't work.

How it works
1. Share your story. Your initial assessment is a 75-minute, one-on-one visit with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. We listen to your goals, your history, and what you've already tried, so we understand what truly matters to you.
2. Get a comprehensive care plan. We follow your surgeon's protocol and measure your motion, strength, and balance, comparing side to side with VALD force plates and dynamometry, so your progress is tracked in real numbers.
3. Work with an accountable guide. Your follow-up sessions are a full hour, one-on-one, never shared with other patients. We use hands-on care to restore motion and a progressive strength and balance program to get you back to the activities you love.
Why prehab helps

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a doctor's referral for physical therapy in Ohio?
No. Ohio law lets you see a physical therapist directly, without a referral.
How long are the sessions?
Your initial assessment is 75 minutes. Follow-up sessions are 60 minutes, always one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy.
Do you take insurance?
We're out of network with all insurance companies. We accept HSA and FSA cards, and many clients are reimbursed through their out-of-network benefits. We'll walk you through your options on a quick call.
How soon after surgery can I start?
Usually within the first week or two, or as soon as your surgeon allows. We'll follow your surgeon's protocol and keep them informed.
Will rehab hurt?
Some discomfort is normal as you get your motion back, but it shouldn't be unbearable. We adjust every session to how you feel that day.
How long does rehab take?
Most people work with us for about 2 to 3 months after surgery, with steady progress in motion, strength, and walking along the way.
When should I see a doctor instead?
Call your surgeon right away if your incision is red, hot, or draining, you have a fever, or your calf is swollen, warm, and painful. Go to the emergency room for chest pain or sudden shortness of breath.
