Jiu-Jitsu, MMA, and Wrestling Injury Physical Therapy in Chardon, OH
You want back on the mat, not on the sidelines.
Your shoulder slips out during scrambles. Your neck is stiff after every roll. Your knee got tweaked in a takedown, or your back and hips are paying for years of training. You keep taping up and pushing through, but it's getting harder to keep up.
You deserve a provider who understands combat sports and wants to keep you training.

We know how frustrating this is
Most of our clients come to us after other treatments didn't work. We know how discouraging it is to hurt, feel stuck, and not know who to trust. That's why the Doctors of Physical Therapy at Chardon Performance Therapy start by listening, until we understand your story and your goals.
We've helped thousands of active people regain confidence, strength, and control, even after other treatments didn't work.

How it works
1. Share your story. Your initial assessment is a 75-minute, one-on-one visit with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. We listen to your goals, your history, and what you've already tried, so we understand what truly matters to you.
2. Get a comprehensive care plan. We look at how your body handles the positions and forces of your sport, and test your strength and stability with VALD force plates and dynamometry. Then we explain what's going on in clear, simple language.
3. Work with an accountable guide. Your follow-up sessions are a full hour, one-on-one. We use hands-on care, dry needling, blood flow restriction (BFR) training when it fits, and a strength program built for grappling and striking.
What to expect
In most cases, pain is gone within the first month, and often much sooner. But getting out of pain is only the start. Our custom plans of care average about 3 months, with one goal: keeping you out of pain and performing at your highest potential.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a doctor's referral for physical therapy in Ohio?
No. Ohio law lets you see a physical therapist directly, without a referral.
How long are the sessions?
Your initial assessment is 75 minutes. Follow-up sessions are 60 minutes, always one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy.
Do you take insurance?
We're out of network with all insurance companies. We accept HSA and FSA cards, and many clients are reimbursed through their out-of-network benefits. We'll walk you through your options on a quick call.
Can I keep training while I recover?
Often, yes, with some changes. We'll give you a clear plan for what's safe, like drilling, specific positions, or conditioning, while you heal.
Will I need surgery for a shoulder that keeps slipping?
Not always. Many athletes do well with a focused strength and stability program. If surgery is the right call, we'll tell you and help you recover from it.
Do you work with gyms and coaches?
Yes. With your permission, we're happy to share a plan with your coach so your return to training is safe.
When should I see a doctor instead?
If a joint is dislocated and won't go back in, you hit your head and have concussion symptoms, have neck pain with numbness or weakness in your arms, or can't put weight on a leg, see a physician or go to urgent care right away.
