Hypermobility Physical Therapy in Chardon, OH
Your joints are too loose, and everything seems to hurt.
Your joints pop, slip, or feel unstable. You get hurt doing simple things, and pain moves around your body. Stretching makes you feel worse, not better. Maybe you've been told you're "just flexible," or you've been diagnosed with hypermobility but no one has given you a real plan.
You deserve to be understood, and a plan built for how your body actually works.

We know how frustrating this is
Most of our clients come to us after other treatments didn't work. We know how discouraging it is to hurt, feel stuck, and not know who to trust. That's why the Doctors of Physical Therapy at Chardon Performance Therapy start by listening, until we understand your story and your goals.
We've helped thousands of active people regain confidence, strength, and control, even after other treatments didn't work.

How it works
1. Share your story. Your initial assessment is a 75-minute, one-on-one visit with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. We listen to your goals, your history, and what you've already tried, so we understand what truly matters to you.
2. Get a comprehensive care plan. We look at how your joints move, where you lack control, and what sets off your pain, then explain it in clear, simple language. We track strength with VALD force plates and dynamometry, so progress is measured in real numbers.
3. Work with an accountable guide. Your follow-up sessions are a full hour, one-on-one. We focus on strength and joint control rather than more stretching, use hands-on care and dry needling to calm pain, and progress you at a pace your body can handle.
What to expect
Hypermobility is managed, not cured, and progress usually comes in steady steps. Most of our clients feel more stable and confident within the first few months, with fewer flare-ups and a clear plan for what to do when one happens.
What our clients say
"I have chronic pain from joint hypermobility, as well as chronic migraines. Her dry needling sessions have changed my life… she listens to my issues and how they effect my entire body, not just a single body part."
Amy P. ★★★★★
"I was diagnosed with hypermobility as an adult… before I went I asked to make sure their therapists were trained on hypermobile bodies. I was assured that everyone was. I worked with two therapists, both of whom were exceptionally thorough and patient."
Angel J. ★★★★★
"When I returned to training, I experienced multiple subluxations during sparring and grappling… I'm proud to say I haven't had a single subluxation since. My shoulder feels stronger, more stable, and more functional than ever."

Don't stay stuck
If you wait, unstable joints often lead to more injuries, more pain, and less activity. You don't have to keep guessing what your body can handle.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a doctor's referral for physical therapy in Ohio?
No. Ohio law lets you see a physical therapist directly, without a referral.
How long are the sessions?
Your initial assessment is 75 minutes. Follow-up sessions are 60 minutes, always one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy.
Do you take insurance?
We're out of network with all insurance companies. We accept HSA and FSA cards, and many clients are reimbursed through their out-of-network benefits. We'll walk you through your options on a quick call.
Should I keep stretching?
Usually less than you think. Hypermobile joints need strength and control more than flexibility. We'll show you what helps and what to skip.
Can you diagnose Ehlers-Danlos syndrome?
We can screen for hypermobility and tell you if a physician should evaluate you further, but a formal diagnosis comes from a physician. Either way, we'll build a plan for the body you have.
Is strength training safe for hypermobile people?
Yes, when it's progressed carefully. It's one of the most effective ways to make joints feel more stable.
When should I see a doctor instead?
If a joint dislocates and won't go back in place, you have numbness or weakness that's getting worse, fainting or a racing heart when you stand, or new severe pain after an injury, see a physician or go to urgent care.
