Hip Pain Physical Therapy in Chardon, OH

Your hip hurts, and it's holding you back.

It aches when you walk, run, or get out of the car. It's tight when you squat, and lying on that side keeps you up at night. Maybe it's costing you power in your golf swing. You've stretched it, foam rolled it, and rested it. It loosens up for a day, then it's right back.

You deserve more than baseline care. You deserve a provider you can trust, and results that actually last.

We know how frustrating this is

Most of our clients come to us after other treatments didn't work. We know how discouraging it is to hurt, feel stuck, and not know who to trust. That's why the Doctors of Physical Therapy at Chardon Performance Therapy start by listening, until we understand your story and your goals.

We've helped thousands of active people regain confidence, strength, and control, even after other treatments didn't work.

Hip problems we treat

  • Hip flexor strains and tightness

  • Hip bursitis and pain on the outside of the hip

  • Hip impingement and labrum tears

  • Hip arthritis, plus strength work before and after hip replacement

  • Groin and adductor strains

  • Hip pain from running, lifting, golf, jiu jitsu, or sport

  • Hip pain that hasn't improved with other care

How it works

1. Share your story. Your initial assessment is a 75-minute, one-on-one visit with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. We listen to your goals, your history, and what you've already tried, so we understand what truly matters to you.

2. Get a comprehensive care plan. We assess what's happening, why it's happening, and exactly what it will take to fix it, explained in clear, simple language. Before we treat, we watch you move, because hip pain is often tied to your back, knees, and feet. We compare your legs side by side with VALD force plates and dynamometry, so your progress is tracked in real numbers, not guesses.

3. Work with an accountable guide. Your follow-up sessions are a full hour, one-on-one. We use hands-on manual therapy, dry needling, and a strength program built for your life and your sport. We stay invested in your progress and push you toward higher performance, not just symptom relief.

What to expect

In most cases, pain is gone within the first month, and often much sooner. But getting out of pain is only the start. Our custom plans of care average about 3 months, with one goal: keeping you out of pain and performing at your highest potential.

Don't stay stuck

If you wait, hip pain changes how you walk, sit, and train, and that often leads to back and knee pain too. You lose time, momentum, and the activities that make life meaningful. You don't have to accept that.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a doctor's referral for physical therapy in Ohio?
No. Ohio law lets you see a physical therapist directly, without a referral.

How long are the sessions?
Your initial assessment is 75 minutes. Follow-up sessions are 60 minutes, always one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy.

How long until my hip feels better?
In most cases, pain is gone within the first month, and often sooner. Plans of care average about 3 months, so you stay out of pain and come back stronger.

Do you take insurance?
We're out of network with all insurance companies. We accept HSA and FSA cards, and many clients are reimbursed through their out-of-network benefits. We'll walk you through your options on a quick call.

Can physical therapy help hip arthritis?
Yes. Strength and movement work is one of the most effective treatments for hip arthritis. If a hip replacement is in your future, getting stronger first makes recovery faster.

Is my hip pain actually coming from my back?
Sometimes. Pain around the hip, buttock, and groin can come from the hip joint, the muscles around it, or your low back. Our assessment sorts out the true source so we treat the right thing.

When should I see a doctor instead?
If you can't put weight on your leg after a fall, your leg looks shortened or turned out, or you have hip pain with fever, chills, or a hot, swollen joint, see a physician or go to urgent care right away.
