Dance Physical Therapy and Performance Screenings in Chardon, OH
Dancers need more than "just rest."
Your hip pinches in développé. Your ankle aches after rehearsal. Your back hurts in arabesque, or your knee flares up every time you land. You've been told to rest, but recitals, auditions, and competitions don't wait, and most providers don't understand what dance asks of your body.
You deserve care from a provider who understands dance, and a plan that keeps you dancing.

We know how frustrating this is
Dancers often push through pain because stopping isn't an option. That's why the Doctors of Physical Therapy at Chardon Performance Therapy start by listening to your goals, your schedule, and your style of dance, and when it helps, to your parents and teachers.
We've helped thousands of active people, including young athletes from across Geauga and Lake County, regain confidence, strength, and control.

How it works
1. Share your story. Your initial assessment is a 75-minute, one-on-one visit with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. We learn your style of dance, your training schedule, your goals, and your injury history.
2. Get a comprehensive care plan. We screen your flexibility, strength, balance, and jump and landing control, including VALD force plate and dynamometry testing. Then we explain what we find in clear, simple language.
3. Work with an accountable guide. Your follow-up sessions are a full hour, one-on-one. We use hands-on care, dry needling when it helps, and a strength and control program built for dance, so you can train hard and perform with confidence.
What a dance screening includes
A dance performance screening looks at turnout, hip and ankle mobility, balance, core and leg strength, and how you jump and land. You leave with a clear picture of your strengths, your weak links, and a plan to address them before they turn into injuries.
What our clients say
"I've been some variation of an athlete for most of my life. A gymnast, a soccer player, a cheerleader, a weight lifter. I was diagnosed with hypermobility as an adult, which explained a lot of my athletic difficulty in my youth."
Angel J. ★★★★★
"Great place to come. Ranging from stretching and helping you feel better to working on your form and helping you become stronger… would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to become a better athlete or just feel better."
Garrett D. ★★★★★
"The staff at CPT addressed our daughter's injury quickly and listened to our concerns to develop a treatment plan that has already provided improvement. We are grateful for their flexible hours and welcoming atmosphere!"

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a doctor's referral for physical therapy in Ohio?
No. Ohio law lets you see a physical therapist directly, without a referral.
How long are the sessions?
Your initial assessment is 75 minutes. Follow-up sessions are 60 minutes, always one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy.
Do you take insurance?
We're out of network with all insurance companies. We accept HSA and FSA cards, and many clients are reimbursed through their out-of-network benefits. We'll walk you through your options on a quick call.
Do I have to stop dancing?
Not always. Many dancers can keep training with some changes while they recover. We'll give you a clear plan for what's safe.
Is a screening worth it if I'm not hurt?
Yes. A screening finds weak links before they become injuries and gives you a plan to get stronger and more consistent.
Can you work with my dance teacher?
Yes. With your permission, we're happy to share recommendations so your training and your rehab work together.
When should I see a doctor instead?
If you have pain in one spot on a bone that hurts to touch, can't put weight on your foot, have a joint that looks deformed, or have numbness or weakness that's getting worse, see a physician right away.
