Carpal Tunnel, Wrist, and Hand Pain Physical Therapy in Chardon, OH
Your hands go numb, and your grip isn't what it used to be.
Your fingers tingle when you drive, type, or hold your phone. You wake up at night shaking out your hand. Opening jars and gripping a club or bar is harder than it should be. You've tried a wrist brace, maybe someone mentioned surgery, and you're wondering if there's another option.
You deserve more than baseline care. You deserve a provider you can trust, and results that actually last.

We know how frustrating this is
Most of our clients come to us after other treatments didn't work. We know how discouraging it is to hurt, feel stuck, and not know who to trust. That's why the Doctors of Physical Therapy at Chardon Performance Therapy start by listening, until we understand your story and your goals.
We've helped thousands of active people regain confidence, strength, and control, even after other treatments didn't work.

How it works
1. Share your story. Your initial assessment is a 75-minute, one-on-one visit with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. We listen to your goals, your history, and what you've already tried, so we understand what truly matters to you.
2. Get a comprehensive care plan. Hand numbness doesn't always start at the wrist. Nerves travel from your neck, past your collarbone, down your arm, so we check the whole path. We measure grip strength with dynamometry and explain what we find in clear, simple language.
3. Work with an accountable guide. Your follow-up sessions are a full hour, one-on-one. We use hands-on manual therapy, dry needling, and a strength program built for your life and your sport. We stay invested in your progress and push you toward higher performance, not just symptom relief.
What to expect
In most cases, pain is gone within the first month, and often much sooner. But getting out of pain is only the start. Our custom plans of care average about 3 months, with one goal: keeping you out of pain and performing at your highest potential.
What our clients say
"I had scheduled carpal tunnel surgery and after 2 visits with David, my hand pain and numbness went away. David actually found where the issue was stemming from (in my collarbone/neck) and focused my therapy on that area instead of my wrist/hand."
Ann M. ★★★★★
"I initially came in with a thumb injury that wasn't improving despite months of trying to manage it on my own… my thumb mobility is back to normal, my strength has returned, and I'm back doing the things I enjoy."
Kelly P. ★★★★★
"Both of my wrists have arthritis. Dave did dry needling and improved pain and improved flexibility 10 fold. Can play golf again."

If you wait, nerve symptoms can get more constant and grip strength can fade. Let's find the real source while it's easier to fix.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a doctor's referral for physical therapy in Ohio?
No. Ohio law lets you see a physical therapist directly, without a referral.
How long are the sessions?
Your initial assessment is 75 minutes. Follow-up sessions are 60 minutes, always one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy.
How long until my hand feels better?
In most cases, pain is gone within the first month, and often sooner. Plans of care average about 3 months, so you stay out of pain and come back stronger.
Do you take insurance?
We're out of network with all insurance companies. We accept HSA and FSA cards, and many clients are reimbursed through their out-of-network benefits. We'll walk you through your options on a quick call.
Can physical therapy help carpal tunnel without surgery?
For many people with mild to moderate symptoms, yes. Treatment may include nerve gliding, hands-on care, night splinting, and changes to how you work and train. If your symptoms point toward surgery, we'll tell you.
Could my neck be causing my hand numbness?
It can. A pinched nerve in the neck or tightness around the collarbone can cause numbness in the hand. That's why we check the whole arm, not just the wrist.
When should I see a doctor instead?
If numbness is constant, the muscle at the base of your thumb looks smaller, your hand is weak and dropping things, or symptoms follow a fall or injury, see a physician soon. Sudden weakness or numbness on one side of the body is an emergency.
