Blood Flow Restriction Training in Chardon, OH
Get stronger while you heal, without heavy weights.
You're recovering from an injury or surgery and you can feel your muscles shrinking. Heavy lifting isn't safe yet, and light exercises don't seem to do much. Every week you wait, you lose strength you'll have to rebuild later.
You deserve a faster, smarter way back. You deserve a provider who knows how to use it safely.

We know how frustrating this is
Most of our clients come to us after other treatments didn't work. We know how discouraging it is to hurt, feel stuck, and not know who to trust. That's why the Doctors of Physical Therapy at Chardon Performance Therapy start by listening, until we understand your story and your goals.
We've helped thousands of active people regain confidence, strength, and control, even after other treatments didn't work.

Knee pain and arthritis that limit heavy lifting
Active adults who want to build strength with less joint stress
How it works
1. Share your story. Your initial assessment is a 75-minute, one-on-one visit with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. We listen to your goals, your history, and what you've already tried, so we understand what truly matters to you.
2. Get a comprehensive care plan. We screen your health history to make sure BFR is safe for you, then explain how it fits your recovery in clear, simple language. We track your strength with VALD force plates and dynamometry.
3. Work with an accountable guide. Your follow-up sessions are a full hour, one-on-one. We set your cuff pressure precisely and build a BFR program into your strength plan, then progress you toward full, heavy training as you heal.
How BFR works
A cuff on your upper arm or thigh partly limits blood flow out of the working muscle while you exercise. Research shows this lets you build strength and muscle size with weights as light as 20 to 30 percent of your max, which is far less stress on healing joints and tissues. It's a powerful tool when used correctly, and it should always be set up by a trained professional.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a doctor's referral for physical therapy in Ohio?
No. Ohio law lets you see a physical therapist directly, without a referral.
How long are the sessions?
Your initial assessment is 75 minutes. Follow-up sessions are 60 minutes, always one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy.
Is BFR training safe?
When it's screened and set up by a trained professional, yes. We review your health history first. BFR may not be right for people with a history of blood clots, certain heart or circulation problems, or some other conditions, and we'll tell you if it isn't a fit.
Do you take insurance?
We're out of network with all insurance companies. We accept HSA and FSA cards, and many clients are reimbursed through their out-of-network benefits. We'll walk you through your options on a quick call.
Does BFR hurt?
It feels tight, and your muscles will burn and tire quickly. That's normal. We set the pressure precisely and keep sets short.
When can I start BFR after surgery?
Often early in recovery, once your surgeon allows. We'll coordinate with your surgeon's protocol.
When should I see a doctor instead?
If you have new calf pain and swelling, chest pain, shortness of breath, or increasing redness or drainage at a surgical site, contact your physician or go to urgent care right away.
