Ankle Sprain and Achilles Pain Physical Therapy in Chardon, OH

Your ankle keeps rolling, or your Achilles won't let up.

You sprained your ankle once, and now it gives out on uneven ground or during a game. Or your Achilles is stiff every morning and aches when you run, jump, or climb stairs. You've rested, braced, and taped it, but it keeps coming back.

You deserve more than baseline care. You deserve a provider you can trust, and results that actually last.

We know how frustrating this is

Most of our clients come to us after other treatments didn't work. We know how discouraging it is to hurt, feel stuck, and not know who to trust. That's why the Doctors of Physical Therapy at Chardon Performance Therapy start by listening, until we understand your story and your goals.

We've helped thousands of active people regain confidence, strength, and control, even after other treatments didn't work.

Ankle and Achilles problems we treat

  • Ankle sprains and repeat sprains

  • Chronic ankle instability

  • Achilles tendon pain (Achilles tendinopathy)

  • Rehab after Achilles tendon rupture or repair

  • Calf strains

  • Ankle stiffness after a fracture or surgery

How it works

1. Share your story. Your initial assessment is a 75-minute, one-on-one visit with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. We listen to your goals, your history, and what you've already tried, so we understand what truly matters to you.

2. Get a comprehensive care plan. We test your ankle strength, balance, and calf power, and compare side to side with VALD force plates and dynamometry. Then we explain what's going on in clear, simple language.

3. Work with an accountable guide. Your follow-up sessions are a full hour, one-on-one. We use hands-on care, dry needling, and a progressive strength, balance, and jumping program, so your ankle can handle your sport and your life again.

What to expect

In most cases, pain is gone within the first month, and often much sooner. But getting out of pain is only the start. Our custom plans of care average about 3 months, with one goal: keeping you out of pain and performing at your highest potential.

Doug F. ★★★★★

"I worked with different therapists during my course of PT. While they all had a unique approach, I felt that each one brought the consistent treatment my ankle and neck needed."

Don't stay stuck

If you wait, a weak ankle tends to keep rolling, and Achilles pain tends to linger for months. Each setback costs you more time. You don't have to accept that.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a doctor's referral for physical therapy in Ohio?
No. Ohio law lets you see a physical therapist directly, without a referral.

How long are the sessions?
Your initial assessment is 75 minutes. Follow-up sessions are 60 minutes, always one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy.

How long until my ankle feels better?
In most cases, pain is gone within the first month, and often sooner. Plans of care average about 3 months, so you stay out of pain and come back stronger.

Do you take insurance?
We're out of network with all insurance companies. We accept HSA and FSA cards, and many clients are reimbursed through their out-of-network benefits. We'll walk you through your options on a quick call.

Do I need to wear a brace forever?
Usually not. A brace can help short term, but building strength and balance is what keeps your ankle from rolling again.

Should I stretch my Achilles?
Stretching alone rarely fixes Achilles pain. Tendons respond best to the right kind of strengthening. We'll build a program that fits your tendon and your sport.

When should I see a doctor instead?
If you felt a pop in the back of your ankle and can't push off or rise onto your toes, can't take four steps after an injury, have major swelling or bruising, or your foot is numb or cold, see a physician or go to urgent care right away.
